Dampalit is Lit! Mt. Makiling's hidden treasure
It is really worth it to find some place that you are comfortable. Where you can relax and throw all your stress away at once. If you've been intrested to travel or explore bodies of water, I'm sure you will like my experiences travelling to Dampalit. I've been there once, at Dampalit falls. The main waterfall was near at Lalakay, Los Baños Laguna. But we decided to hike up, higher from the main. So we took the trail for almost 1 and a half hour from our home, take note! we went inside the forest, at first my mind was hesitant to continue walking because there are leeches called "limatik". It's not harmful tho, but I'm sure that it'll give you some creeps.
We almost did every stunts like what stuntmen do in an action film. Jumped, kneeled, and hold tightly on the branches and roots of the big trees. But the painful and tiring part of the trail was replaced by peace and calmness when I started hearing the splash of the water, coming from the waterfall. Rumors said that there's a woman who takes care of the Dampalit falls, she was also known as Maria, the owner of the Mt. Makiling. We chose to stay quiet aside from the fact that I really wanted to shout because of the cold water, cause we might disturb Ms.Maria Makiling from her deep slumber.
I swam like a mermaid. Although I cannot reach the middle part of the whole waterfalls because my cousin told me that it is 7ft deep. So everytime we swim, he's at my back to assist me.
After an hour of exhausting my back and arms in swimming together with my cousins, my father prepared our food for lunch. "Itlog na Pula", "Manggang Hilaw", and "Inihaw na Bayuko" are the main dish. And together with rice, we ate like there's no tomorrow because of our hunger. Who's not gonna eat large amount of food if the place like this is in your eyes? I bet no one. We went back to the water after resting our full tummy. I really want to enjoy every second that I was there at Dampalit, cause I know that after this adventure, it will take a year or a half before we can visit this place again. Every moment is important, so I gave my best to taste the water! (It is a running water so for me, in my beliefs, it is safe).
Every happy moment has it's end, isn't it? We went back home safely, carrying the memories and happiness from Dampalit. I hope that you can visit this place too, I'm definitely and a hundred percent sure that it will exceed your expectation by its beauty.
